International Commission on Poplars and Other Fast-Growing Trees Sustaining People and the Environment (IPC) Business Meeting

The IPC is a statutory body of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (UN FAO). The IPC’s mission is to reduce poverty and improve ecosystem services worldwide by fostering the sustainable management of fast-growing trees (FGTs). The IPC serves as a knowledge and capacity development network as well as a science-policy-practice platform, converting science-based approaches into practice. The IPC is organized into five working parties: 1) Genetic Resources (WP-GEN), 2) Production Systems for the Bioeconomy (WP-PRO), 3) Policy and Livelihoods (WP-POL), 4) Environmental and Ecosystem Services (WP-ENV), and 5) Communication and Outreach (WP-COM). All conference participants are invited to attend a general meeting of the IPC to learn more about these working parties.

The International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) is a non-profit, non-governmental international network of forest scientists, which promotes global cooperation in forest-related research and enhances the understanding of the ecological, economic and social aspects of forests. Established in 1892, IUFRO has over 630 Member Organizations in more than 115 countries, and is open to all individuals and organizations involved in forest research and forest-related sciences. The mission of IUFRO is to advance research excellence and knowledge sharing, and to foster the development of science-based solutions to forest-related challenges for the benefit of forests and people worldwide. All conference participants are invited to attend a general meeting of IUFRO to learn more about IUFRO and its divisions and working parties. This meeting will take place in-person and has a virtual option for those who are unable to attend in person. Participants who wish to attend virtually must register to attend by following the Teams link above.
