2026 Woody Crops Scholars Program

We are pleased to announce the 2026 Woody Crops Scholars Program as part of the 2026 Short Rotation Woody Crops International Conference and Poplar Symposium!

In 2024, the Woody Crops Scholars Program was established, with two main objectives: 1) support student participation in the Short Rotation Woody Crops International Conference, and 2) educate and inspire the next generation of professionals and academic researchers. 

 

To accomplish the first objective, 2026 Woody Crops Scholars will receive free registration to the conference, made possible by the generous contributions of multiple sponsors. To fulfill the second objective, 2026 Woody Crops Scholars will complete multiple professional development activities throughout the conference:

 

2026 Woody Crops Scholars Program Required Activities

  1. Networking (completing a minimum of four networking opportunities is required)

    1. Required Events/Activities:

      1. Identify a Connection pre-conference assignment

      2. Scholars lunch with woody crop professionals

      3. Student dinner 

    2. Additional Events/Activities (need to attend at least one additional event):

      1. Field tours (Monday and Thursday options)

      2. Banquet dinner

  2. Professional development in oral and written presentation skills (poster or oral presentation is required)

    1. Participation in the student oral or poster competition (presentation is required)

  3. Professional development in interpersonal skills​

    1. Required:

      1. Scholars mixer​

      2. Interactions with other students and professionals throughout the conference

      3. Complete a feedback form on experiences from the conference

All undergraduate, Master's, and PhD students who have submitted an abstract for the 2026 SRWC | IPS conference are invited to apply.
