Led by Timothy Reinbott, Director of Field Operations
Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1965, the Duley-Miller Erosion Plots are all that remains of the old MU Horticulture Farm. The plots were established in 1915 to answer a simple question about how much water and soil run off there was after an intense storm, however data from these plots were cited in 1928 by Hugh Hammond Bennet's “Soil Erosion: A National Menace", which was influential in the formation of the USDA Soil Conservation Service, now known as the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS).
