PC: University of Missouri
The University of Missouri (MU), known affectionately as Mizzou, is a land-grant institution located in the heart of Columbia, MO. Established in 1839, Mizzou was the first public university west of the Mississippi River. Today, MU is home to over 30,000 students representing all 50 US states and over 100 countries. Nationally recognized for its rigorous research and academics, Mizzou offers over 300 degree programs to students, including 96 master’s and 69 doctoral degree programs.
While on campus, be sure to take a walk around the historic Francis Quadrangle, which is flanked by red brick buildings iconic to MU. Walk like a Tiger by walking through The Columns towards the domed Jesse Hall, an annual tradition for incoming Mizzou freshmen. Near the Quadrangle you can also walk beneath the archway of the world’s first School of Journalism, Mizzou’s J-school. Finally, don’t forget to take a picture of the castle-like Memorial Union, which was originally constructed in 1926 as a tribute to MU students who lost their lives during World War I.
The University of Missouri Center for Agroforestry (UMCA) will host the 2024 Short Rotation Woody Crops International Conference. Established in 1998, UMCA is one of the world's premier agroforestry research institutions, providing significant contributions to the science and practice of agroforestry systems. With the goal of supporting the long-term future of rural and urban working farms and forests through land use strategies that achieve economic, environmental and social sustainability, the vision of UMCA is to be a global leader in agroforestry research, economic development, education and outreach.
The Center for Agroforestry's graduate program offers two degrees opportunities for students seeking a Master's degree in agroforestry. In addition to an on-campus and online Master's degrees in agroforestry, UMCA offers an online graduate certificate in agroforestry.
