Student Initiatives

The 2024 Short Rotation Woody Crops International Conference will provide several professional development opportunities for students. 

Student Presentation Competitions

Student oral and poster presentation competitions will take place on May 14 and 15. 

The student poster presentation competition will occur in the afternoon on May 14. Meanwhile, oral presentations will be given by students on May 14 and 15. Throughout this time, students wishing to take part in the competition will be evaluated by a group of judges.

Awards will be given to the top 3 poster and top 3 oral presenters.

Career Panel Discussion

A student career panel discussion will take place in the afternoon of May 14. Students will have the opportunity to ask career-related questions to a group of panelists from a variety of professional backgrounds, including academia, government, and the private industry. 

Woody Crops Scholars

We are pleased to announce the first ever Woody Crops Scholars Program as part of the 2024 conference! The Woody Crops Scholars Program is intended to support student engagement through numerous professional development opportunities. Eight Scholars have been selected for this year's conference.

Other Opportunities

In addition to the above professional development activities, students will have the opportunity to attend a panel discussion in which professionals will discuss the way forward for enhancing the integration of short rotation woody crops and agroforestry systems. Furthermore, students will have the chance to attend several business meetings of organizations that are leading efforts in the fields of short rotation woody crops and agroforestry.
